May 11 (Renewables Now) - Germany has selected solar-plus-storage projects with a total capacity of 403 MW in the latest innovation tender and awarded 204 MW of solar capacity to be installed on buildings and noise barriers.

The innovation tender with a deadline of April 1 was slightly oversubscribed. The Federal Network Agency planned to award 397 MW but received 45 bids for a total of 435 MW. All competing projects featured a solar plant with an energy storage system, the power regulator said on Wednesday.

This round of the innovation tender was for the first time open for bids for special solar systems which include floating, carport or agrivoltaic solar projects. As many as 13 proposals for such systems totalling 22 MW were submitted and all of them were accepted. Of these, 12 projects with a capacity of 21 MW are for agrivoltaic plants and one project of 1 MW is for a solar system on a parking lot.

The bids in the round ranged from EUR 0.039 to EUR 0.074 per kWh. The volume-weighted average price stood at EUR 0.054 (USD 0.057) per kWh, up from EUR 0.045 per kWh in the previous round.

Unlike the innovation tender, the auction for solar plants on buildings and noise barriers was significantly undersubscribed mainly due to the sharp increase in the tendered capacity. The Federal Network Agency targeted 767 MW but received only 171 bids for 212 MW and awarded 163 projects with a planned capacity of 204 MW.

Seven offers were excluded due to formal errors.

The prices in the round were in the range of EUR 0.070 per kWh to EUR 0.089. At EUR 0.085 per kWh, the volume-weighted average price significantly exceeded the average price of EUR 0.074 in the previous round.
