Vans headquarters includes 1-MW solar carport for 50% of energy needs

The Vans corporate headquarters in Costa Mesa has received the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum Certification, the highest standard for sustainable buildings in the world, making the new Vans headquarters one of the most sustainable buildings in Orange County.

The new headquarters comes complete with a 1-MW carport solar array and more than 4,000 solar panels, providing approximately 50% of the building’s energy needs, preventing 440 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. The building is designed to be 48% more energy efficient than building code requirements in California, by incorporating cutting edge lighting, heating and cooling technologies and state of the art fixtures and equipment, make the new Vans headquarters 40% more water efficient than building code requirements.
