“Do We Have A Problem?” is Nicki Minaj’s first single as a lead artist, following a two-year hiatus. The track features the prevalent Atlanta native rapper, Lil Baby to add even more buzz to Minaj’s highly-anticipated return.

On the track, Nicki raps about weapons while also referring to the New York native rapper, Fivio Foreign, and paying homage to the late artists Juice WRLD and Pop Smoke; on the other hand, Baby boasts about his recently new-found fame and articulates his aims for the new year.

The track was first announced by Minaj on January 27, 2022 via an Instagram post, which featured a snapshot from the music video with her and Baby, captioned:

DO WE HAVE A PROBLEM⁉️ BABY X BARBIE 🦄🎀🤞🏽 PINK FRIDAY 🔥 FEB 4 👅⬆️🤣

Following the announcement and the high traction off of it, Nicki released the official music video trailer, along with the track’s pre-save link.

The nearly ten-minute long music video, which took inspiration from one Minaj’s favorite films, Salt (2010), showcased Minaj’s acting skills as she portrays an undercover agent plotting with Baby. Additionally, the video’s final sequences featured a snippet of another collaboration between the two artists, titled “Bussin',” which would eventually receive an official release just one week later.

It is being shot some something like a movie: I will say that because my inspiration was Salt, which is one of my favorite Angelina Jolie movies. I always loved that movie, and this was my little inspiration behind it, and I spoke to the director – Benny Boom – about it.

Joseph Sikora and Cory Hardrict played their parts exceptionally well; Lil Baby is even a good actor. […] So yeah, we wanted to do something different: I don’t want to come back and give people what they keep saying, you know, busting it open right now. I ain’t trying to bust it over, I just wanted to stay in my lane and respect everybody else’s lane, and just do me.

Yes, it is at the moment. The two artists have also collaborated for another track, “Bussin',” which is still unreleased as of February 2022.

On January 31, during an IG Live, Nicki said:

When Lil Baby and I did the first song, it wasn’t our favorite song, it wasn’t either of our favorite songs, so [we] ended up doing another song, but then when we did, the other song grew on us, grew on everybody and we both decided like, “I don’t know if you could put out just one, they [are] both so magical,” so what I will say is you guys might be in for a real special treat.

On the same day, during an online interview for iHeart, she said:

We did two songs actually, and I might let people hear a little piece of it once this record comes out on February 4th, so, you know, never know right [if it will] be a surprise, but we’re putting out the video as of now; as long as everything goes according to plan, I will pull out the visual as well on February 4th. When the video comes out, you might get a taste of the other song, and then the fans will be able to decide what is their favorite Nicki-Baby collab.
